So this review is going to be a little different. I am going to review the box as a whole rather than individual games, but let me give you a little bit on each of the games.
About Board Game Bento...In Pictures
WHAT'S IN THE BOX!!!!
This is the September 2017 box. Every box has a theme and this one was pop culture. Here is what was in the box with a brief overview.
Star Trek Panic
Star Trek Panic is a cooperative light strategy game based on Castle Panic that challenges players to defend the U.S.S. Enterprise from enemy attacks.
The Goonies: Adventure Card Game
In the game you play as a ragtag group of kids from the Goon Docks neighborhood of Astoria, Oregon. You must join together on a quest to find the treasure of legendary pirate One-Eyed Willy so that you can save your homes from demolition! You will need to keep your wits about you and use your unique skills to avoid One-Eyed Willy's booby traps and also stay one step ahead of the Fratellis, a family of criminals intent on claiming the treasure for themselves.
Rick and Morty: Total Rickall Card Game
Rick has locked the family inside their house. Why? Because the family has grown. Parasites masquerading as family and close friends have infiltrated and have inserted pleasant memories into everyone's minds to make them think they're real — and more keep coming! You must figure out which of these new, zany characters are real and which ones are parasites that need to be exterminated. Think you've got what it takes to save the world?
First I'll talk about the assortment. I really like the idea of having a theme for every box. It ties the box together nicely. Within the theme however it would be nice to have three separate game mechanics (there are two co-op games in the box).
Second is value. Even if you went with Amazon prices instead of retail this is still a very good price for what you get. The games included this month are rated on board game geek ranging from 6.5-7.3 which is above average and way above what they could have put in the box, especially in a pop culture box. When you sign up there is a one month plan for $50 or a 6 month plan for $45 a month. If you enjoy things such as loot crate or many of the other boxes that are out there or if you like to be surprised with games every month (i know i would like games to show up every month at my house) than this is for you.
