Hello! Welcome to my first blog post. I've prepared a beast of a post for this momentous occasion... One that should give you a pretty good idea of the kinds of games I enjoy!
I’m a game mechanic junkie. I will always remember when I first learned that a board game could be something other than rolling a die to move or drawing a random card.
The first game I loved was Agricola. On my first play I was utterly confused, but at the game’s completion, a realization dawned on me. All the game’s mechanics came together, and I suddenly understood how it was supposed to work. I wanted to play again immediately, and not just because I wanted a pet boar for my farmhouse, but because I wanted to see what I could build with my new understanding of the game’s mechanics.
Ever since then, I’m always seeking clever new mechanics that can light that same spark in my mind. Here are 10 of my favourites, and the reasons I love them.
