So initially this was going to be a review of the bitbox mobile system. The story goes that I had heard very positive reviews of the product and it had done over $200,000 in orders on Kickstarter, and they had already shipped the boxes to their backers. I contacted the company, and they were very generous to send me a copy to review at the end of September. The company told me that the plan was to do a massive sale starting Black Friday and continuing into December and they would get back to me on when they wanted the article posted.
I decided to take as many large boxed games as I could and put them in the box to show maximum space saving ability. I was super impressed by how easy it was to break the games down into different sturdy cardboard boxes and the sale was going to be $25 and free shipping. I was taking my bitbox everywhere... inlaws, game nights, friends houses. I felt (and still do) that the quality was excellent for the price.
I decided to write the article in November and have it ready to go. I was all set, ready to roll. And then...nothing. I emailed the company..... nothing. I thought maybe they were busy so I tried to contact them a week later... nothing. The next week.... No.I check their twitter feed to see if maybe there was an update, nope. Ok well, surely the Kickstarter will have some update, wrong. The company dropped right off the face of the earth.
People in the comments section on their Kickstarter started noticing the vanishing act right around the same time I did. Buy why? Why would a company that had a great product with over 2,000 backers just disappear? I waited a few weeks trying to do some digging hoping this story would have some resolution, but alas it does not. People still post on the Kickstarter hoping to find out what happened or even try to start their own Bitbox 2.0.
